The Radioactive Issue

“The minority, the ruling class… has the press under its thumb. This allows it to organize and sway the emotions of the masses, and make its tool of them.”

The Mule newspaper is a not-for-profit, grassroots and UK-wide project committed to using media production and distribution as a tool for promoting social and economic justice rather than private profit. We are dedicated to addressing the burning issues that the mainstream local and national media neglects, while consciously not concealing our ideals behind a false objectivity. We hope to empower people to "become the media" by playing an active role in the process of collecting, reporting, analysing and disseminating news and information.

Mule will initially be produced quarterly and distributed freely on the streets of many towns and cities across the UK. Each issue will take a different main theme, as well as containing regular features and a 4-page local pull-out produced by a collective in each participating city.

The big topic in Issue 2 will be fundamentalist ideologies.

Our aim is for the majority of the newspaper content to be supplied by YOU, the readers. Please send in general news items and reviews as well as any non-copyright articles, photos, cartoons or other contributions relevant to the theme. Deadline: April 15th 2007.

Monetary donations are also welcome!
