Police have made a second arrest in connection with the vandalism of Muslim graves which took place last year in Southern Cemetary.

Greater Manchester Police announced that a 16 year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated criminal damage and has been bailed until Wednesday, March 10 pending further inquiries.

This follows the arrest of a 22 year-old man early this month in connection with three incidents of defacing and destruction of headstones which occurred in October and November 2009.

Inquiries are ongoing, and police are continuing to appeal for information.

Anyone who can help is asked to call police on 0161 856 6151 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
