Huge cuts planned in Salford

Salford City Council is planning a ‘slash and burn’ cuts programme  that will massively reduce funding to Adult Social Care, Welfare and Libraries the Salford Star reported yesterday.

Nearly £19m will be shaved from the adult social care budge which will affect senior citizens, disabled people and carers.

Meanwhile over £2m will be cut from the Neighbourhoods department which covers advice and welfare rights and funding for community organisations.

And there are rumours that two libraries in the city are to close.
