Books: Small Rocks launch

Article published: Wednesday, February 17th 2010

Small Rocks is a collection of writing from people made destituteby the immigration system. The book launch takes place tonight, Wednesday 17th February, from 7pm onwards at greenroom arts centre on Whitworth Street. The night is presented by Commonword, in association with RAPAR and the Community Arts North West Exodus Program.

Estimates imply that there are over 500,000 people living in the UK who have been made destitute by the asylum system. They have no access to benefits or housing and, as they cannot legally work, are often exploited as semi-enslaved labour.

Small Rocks highlights the struggles of people forced to live on the margins of society. It is an important and timely launch.

Entry is free and there will be a buffet provided.
