EDL Cancel Fascist Jaunt to Bolton

Article published: Monday, February 8th 2010

Fascist group the English Defence League (EDL) announced over the weekend that they were cancelling a planned trip to Bolton on March 6 because of a “Religious hindu (sic) festival on the same day at the same time at the same place to our demo (sic)”.

The statement from the EDL leadership posted on their website went on to say that, “Due to the respect we have to (sic) the peace loving hindu (sic) community we felt there was only one decision at the end of the day.” Fascists giving up protests in deference to the religious sensibilities of an ethnic minority? It’s political correctness gone mad!

Before regular MULE readers choke on their beanburgers in shock, the EDL are not finally admitting that their protests tend to attract the sort of violent racists who will have difficulty telling one ethnic group apart from the other – which would be fairly bad publicity for the Nazi-salute giving skinheads who insist they come in peace to oppose Islamic fundamentalism. Instead, they are extending this olive branch because the dastardly commies in Unite Against Fascism (UAF) seek to bring the organisation down from the inside.

As leader John Sheridan argued with the far-right’s usual degree of firm evidence, “We strongly beleive (sic) the UAF were planning on attacking the hindu (sic) festival whilst dressed in EDL official merchandise in a desperate attempt to falsly (sic) accuse us of being racist”.

They needn’t bother with such conspiracy theories considering that their ranks are full of members of the BNP, even at the highest level (and speculation is doing the rounds that Sheridan is actually Chris Renton, a former BNP activist who took over the outfit in a coup last summer). Besides this another likely cause of violence, as demonstrated by their protests in Stoke and Manchester, is their highly successful direct action strategy of barricading themselves in branches of Weatherspoons for several hours, before drunkenly scuffling with police and one another on the way out. It’s worth also reminding readers that the Welsh, English and Scottish Defence Leagues started as alliances of football hooligans. British football hooligans are renowned across the world for their adherence to the central Hindu tenets of seeking transcendental peace and harmony.

Plan B seems to be heading to London on March 5 to support Geert Wilders, the right-wing Dutch politician banned from the UK for several months last year who is popping over to show Fitna, his film about Islam, to the House of Lords (the film only has rating of 5.2 on IMDb, so maybe rent something better this weekend…). According to their homepage, the EDL are adamant that “‘Lord’ Ahmed has threatened him again with 10,000 Muslims”. Presumably, the reason that many Muslims can be mobilised in comparison to the rather feeble numbers the EDL can get together is because they don’t all bugger off to the first pub they see when they get off the piss and beer stained coach.

  2. this demo has now been rearranged for 20th March 2010:
theres also talk on the edl forum of staging a demo in Burnley, thats a bloodbath in waiting .
also ainnt these demos supposed to be ‘static’ demos,if they are why did GMP allow them to walk around piccadilly and the northern quarter.
If i knew more of the law i’d look into getting GMP in court for allowing the law to be broken.
now imagine if a thousand anarchists descended on the centre of manchester,do you think the cops would allow them to roam around shouting and threatening the public.funny old world, makes you wonder how many of GMP are sympathetic to the EDL?

  3. Britain’s shame, the E.D.L arrive in force at Bolton, It would be laughable if they weren’t so tragic as Bolton’s proud multicultural community rise together in solidarity to provide the yardstick; ordinarily so, I would not condone violence but as in world war I and II, it’s sometimes an evil necessity when dealing with dictatorial agendas and fascist subjugation!
