Election billboards subvertised

Article published: Monday, May 3rd 2010

It seems the Conservatives and their billboard campaign has been met with the same kind of welcome as they’ve been getting around the country. Messages like “Don’t vote – take control” and “Tories = New Labour” have appeared on posters across Manchester.

Labour must be sure that they’ve got the city sewn up for the election, and there’s no sign of their posters anywhere, and the Lib Dems don’t look like they’re bothering. The Tories have gone to town though, with David Cameron’s face appearing throughout east and central Manchester, extolling the virtues of ‘big society’, ‘discipline in schools’, his so-called ‘national citizen service’ and attacking people on benefits.

But mischievous anti-election messages seem to have found their way onto almost every single one!

If you see any others, let us know, send pictures to editor@manchestermule.com. We’ve seen at least seven so far…maybe there are some with slightly more impressive artwork?

"Don't vote - take control"

“Vote Cons” – that’s clever!

Looks like more a collective effort this one

National Service for 6-year-olds!

Looks like someone tried to tear this one down as well
