Lobby of full Council Meeting tomorrow Wednesday 9 March 8.30am

Anti-cuts campaigners are calling on those opposed to cuts to local services to join a lobby outside the Town Hall tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow morning (Wednesday 9 March) Manchester City Council will hold a full meeting of all 96 of the city’s elected councillors who will vote on the budget proposals for the next financial year.

The Council has to deal with a 25 per cent cut to its financial settlement from central government. In order to meet this shortfall of £110m in the next year it has decided to withdraw funding from all youth centres and nurseries, reduce library opening hours, make bin collection fortnightly and abolish the renowned Manchester Advice which helps thousands of people with debt, housing and employment problems each year.

Supporters from campaigns including Sure Start centres, Levenshulme Baths, Manchester Coalition Against the Cuts and Manchester Advice will converge on the Town Hall from 8.30am to register their dismay at the plans to decimate public services provided by the Council.

Join the protest outside the Town Hall from 8.30am

The full council meeting will start at 10am – get there early to make sure you get a seat
