The day began with a rally at London City Airport in the morning
Local residents and councillors spoke of the need to End Domestic Flights
The 'Fight the Flights' group have launched a judicial review against the local council's decision to increase flight numbers
A group then travelled up by train to Manchester Picadiilly...
Where they were met by campaigners from Stop Expansion at Manchester Airport coalition and Campaign against Climate Change
A second rally was then held at Terminal 3 of Manchester Airport
Terminal 3 serves domestic flights to and from Manchester Airport
There are currently an average of around 38 flights per day between Manchester and the London hubs
Councillor Martin Eakins, Amanda Walters from Manchester Plane Stupid, Phil Thornhill from Campaign against Climate Change, John Stewart from Airportwatch and local Hasty Lane resident Peter Johnson all spoke about different airport expansion issues - including climate change, jobs, direct action and effects on local communities
Some were unconvinced by Manchester Airport's environmental credentials
After the rally, the group headed to Hasty Lane for a fruit picking session and evening party with Abundance Manchester - a local initiative which picks surplus fruit and donates it to local community centres
Residents' houses on Hasty Lane have been earmarked for demolition if the expansion of the World Freight Centre goes ahead
Stop Expansion at Manchester Airport coalition have launched an 'Adopt a Resident' initiative to support residents fight to save their homes
