Photo report: Manchester anti-cuts demonstration

Article published: Monday, March 7th 2011

Over a thousand people from trade unions, anti-cuts groups and community campaigns converged on Manchester this Saturday to protest against cuts to public services.

The march started off at All Saint’s Park and proceeded down Oxford Road to the Town Hall. It assembled people campaigning against the closure of Sure Start centres, free advice services as well as Council workers, trade unionists and community groups.

Organisers are now calling on people to attend the lobby of the full Council meeting this Wednesday at which all of the city’s councillors will vote on the budget proposal for the next financial year.
